Action and comedy work at box office. This commonly held belief has been again proven right with the runaway success of Singham.

The movie has been declared a blockbuster just ten days after its release. Starring Ajay Devgan and south beauty Kajal Aggarwal, the movie amassed a whopping Rs. 50 crores in its first-week run at theatres. Its second weekend was no tepid. The film raked in a decent Rs. 14 crore during the second weekend. The break-up is: Rs. 3.40 crore on Friday; Rs. 4.60 crores on Saturday; and an estimated Rs. 6 crore on Sunday.

The aggregate 10-day collection of Singham is now touching the Rs. 65 crore mark and, need we point out, the distributors and the makers are laughing their way to the bank.

On the other hand, the three new releases — Gandhi To Hitler, Khap and Bubble Gum — were non-performers at box office. The films are hardly attracting any footfalls.

Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, meanwhile, continues its good run and has so far raked in Rs. 70 crore nett in its 17-day run at the box office. A superhit.

This Friday would see the release of small budget films like I Am Kalam and Chala Mussaddi Office Office.
