Being the solo release of the week has its advantage. Yash Raj Films’ predictable-to-the-core flick Mere Brother Ki Dulhan made in the typical template of shaadi-baarat managed to get a good opening. While the film had nothing new to offer, audiences too had nothing else to watch.

MBKD managed to earn Rs 26 crores in its opening weekend which is a decent figure for the scale at which it’s made. Being the only release of the week, it continues to fare decent.

Meanwhile Salman Khan’s Bodyguard slid down in its second week. With too much exposure in the first week and after already crossing Rs 100 crore mark, Bodyguard remained on the lower side in week 2.

If everything works fine, the coming week will see another solo release in the form of Shahid Kapur – Sonam Kapoor’s Mausam . There seems to be uncertainty with the release date of the film due to objections raised by IAF and chances are that the film might be postponed by a week. In that case Mere Brother Ki Dulhan will enjoy another maiden week while Mausam will have to fight it out with Hum Tum Shabana and Akshay Kumar produced Speedy Singhs on September 23.

The real fight is on September 30 where as many as 7 films are scheduled for release.
