This update was officially made by Hussain Lalani, Kanye’s business manager and CFO. The change is reflected in filings for Yeezy Apparel, Yeezy Record Label LLC, and Getting Out Our Dreams Inc.
Kanye Omari West was the name given to him at birth. In the year 2018, he began using the nickname “Ye” as a replacement for his real name, even in the titles of his albums and on social media.
He legally switched his name to Ye in October 2021 after a downtown Los Angeles county court granted his request to change his name. Now, in June of the year 2025, public filings show that the name “Ye Ye” is the name being used.
The name “Ye Ye” has been mentioned in the official paperwork, but Kanye has not verbally confirmed it as such yet.
To some extent, he will use Ye Ye in interviews, social media, or music. His current public persona and album covers still show Ye.
