Hollywood’s forever leading man and an academy award-winning actor, Brad Pitt, has finally opened up about his obsession with not only films, but motorsports! In a recent media interaction, Pitt revealed that he has been dreaming about being leading an F1 film for “literally decades,” and now, it is becoming a reality.
Pitt is in the process of filming for an untitled F1 movie under Apple Original Films and isn’t just getting his feet wet in the fast-paced world of motorsports, he is jumping right in with both feet, even real racetrack training and on-location support from F1 icons, including Lewis Hamilton, who is part of the production team.
“I’ve wanted to make this movie for over 30 years,” Pitt said. “The speed, the danger, the glory there’s a cinematic element to everything. And now we have technology that can put the viewer in the cockpit like never before.”
The film follows Pitt as a retired F1 driver who comes back to the grid to mentor a hotshot and to race for redemption, directed by Maverick filmmaker Joseph Kosinski.
The film utilizes actual F1 teams and circuits in their scenes, namely being one of the most real racing pictures ever produced.
The cast features Damson Idris, who broke out as the young prodigy, as well as Kerry Condon as the team principal who shows no nerves. Filming is being done at F1 Grand Prix events, including Silverstone and Monza, allowing both real race footage while incorporating storytelling through fiction.
Pitt’s passion for racing is not just on-screen, however. According to insiders, Pitt is “hooked” on driving, even pushing production cars hard between takes and geeking out over tire pressure data on the dash with the mechanics.
While the F1 fan base is excited, Hollywood players believe this could be Pitt’s most adrenaline-driven role yet, and social media is confirming that excitement too saying things like, “Forget ‘Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood’. Now, we are ready to see ‘Once Upon a Lap…in Monaco!'”
With the passion of Brad Pitt and the global fan base behind Formula 1 as a whole, this project stands to be today’s version of the Fast & the Fabulous.
